Well, I had a 028 for some time and liked the saw. But, its a stihl. I went to dolmar for the main reason of a better air filter system. It also is very smooth running saw and nice balance. Wait till you get sometime on it. It will come around and is just scary on limb wood. My neighbor was so impressed with it he bought its big brother the 7900. I myself use a 385 husqvarna for big stuff. Here is a site for alot of saw talk: >Link

ive never heard of this brand and would like to hear about them too, ive run stihl since the '70's, after a bad experience with a husky and the dealer it came from, like you , my o28 croaked after about 25 or 30 years of service, i got lucky and found another o28 that belonged to a gent who didnt use it much, bought it ant its still going strong along with my o44 too

Hi Bud,
Sorry to hear about your 028. I had similar experience with my 031 after 30 years of use. I bought a new Stihl 250, though, a couple of years ago. It's been okay, but I found out that my Stihl dealer no longer sells Stihl but has become a Dolmar dealer. He says it's an older, better brand. Can this be true?
Butch

Dolmar is the original chain saw. They invented the first gasoline powered chain saw in Germany in 1927.
The PS-5100S I ordered has a .5cc smaller engine than the Stihl 026 Pro I looked at but it produces .6 hp more and runs at 14,500 rpm compared to 12,500 rpm on the Stihl. The Huskys run 13,500 rpms. It weighs 1 1/2 lb more than the Stihl and 1/2 lb less than the Husky 460. It's also about $100 less than the Stihl - same price as the Husky 460.
As much as I liked my old Stihl 028 this sounds like more saw, as good or better quality for less money.
I can email you my spread sheet with the comparisons if you want it.

I thought Stihl came up with the "chain saw".

Put in your brouser: Chainsaw history. Pass sponsered results and go down to "Chainsaw History". The site is About.com. That ought to get things riled up!

No need to do that, Bud. I'm going to have to wear out my Stihl before I buy something else. Dolmar sounds like the best, though.
