This started back in April when I was in Okla. Went out to start the truck. It started right up, but ran real rough. Turned off and waited 15-20 sec. and it started right up and ran well until about 4-5 weeks ago and now it has started doing it again while driving to and from town (400 mi. per wk). When this happens the service lite also comes on, but goes off after waiting the 10-15 sec and restarting. The dealer has already changed the cam sensor yesterday and it quit on the way home. Any ideas. Tks

Hi Roy,

The first thing I'd do is reset the puter, disconnect both battery's over night. This resets the PCM to system defaults, clears all fault codes, clears the KAM (keep alive memory), and clears the GEM (access puter).
If the engine truley does have problems after reset, then it will quickly set new codes and the same problem symptoms will come back. There will be one code left after reset that says all battery power was lost.

I reset my 02 PSD once every 5k mile oil change as it keeps my fuel mileage at maximum. My 27k mile life time fuel milage is ***15.2mpg*** that includes pulling 16kGCW to 31kGCW for 9k miles.

If you take your truck back to Ford for the PCM recall then they reprogram the PCM with new emissions and I don't know how that will effect fuel mileage.

Hey Royboy
You may have to take off both valve covers to make sure that all connections to the injectors are tight. Check the outside of the valve covers for loose connections and bare wires first.
If you take off the valve covers make sure that no wires form the harnes are shorting to ground, it will eventually blow your ECM. The electrical harnes to the injector fits betwwen the valve cover and the head. Take a good look and check for bare wires. If an injector was replaced I would check that side first!
Good Luck!..... ....Guido

I have a 2000 7.3L. Sounds like a connector under the valve cover in the wiring harness.

I bought the code reader a year or so ago. Ford wanted its purchase price to read the codes.

I lost a bank of cylinders 100 miles from home. Had the code reader with me and a laptop. Took a hour or more fiddling with the connector to get it to run right and drop the SES but it did. #3 cylinder if remember right passenger side 2nd cylinder from the front. The connector was loose but not to the eye took taking it apart and putting it back together 3 or 4 times the code reader told me which cylinder was the problem.

Good luck,
ray
