Onan engine on a Miller Welder

I have a gasoline Onan engine on my Miller welding machine & when I stike an arch to weld the engine starts backfiring & sputtering making it difficult to complete the job. Any help would be appreciated.

i have one in the back of my truck sometimes when im gettin my cutting torch out that sets behind the welder i will accidently pull off one of the spark plug wires. it doesnt like that at all.

when was the last time this was given a complete tune up sounds like a spark plug misfiring under load to me

I had that problem on a 8 HP on my generator. It was a cracked elbow that runs from carb to head. It was sucking too much air when the gov opened up.
