I have a 1990 JCB 1400B. It overheated constantly, from the very beginning. The mechanic, from the company that I bought it from, told me that there was a design flaw with the radiator. He was always being called out to blow out radiators. I started washing out the radiator every chance I had and found out later from another owner that the design flaw was that the fins were spaced too closely together and normal backhoe activity, such as just loading a dump truck with dirt would clog them. I need a rebuild at 4,000 hours due to a cracked block due to overheating. I am now trying to get JCB to finance the repair - not pay for it but just finance it. I would bet that the problem was known to them and then corrected in later models.
I never had any problem of this kind with my John Deere 410.
