I have a new Dell 530s computer with Win XP At random intervals there is a "ding dong" sort of tone and the screen turns yellow, sometimes lite , other times dark. It will clear up by its self , also followed by a tone. I thought it was an alert for email , but that's not it . So far 3 of Dells tech's ( Vijay , Ashok , and Pavan )haven't been able to fix it, Anyone having similar problems ?? Any fixes I can relay to them ?

I had a similar problem with a Dell monitor several years ago. It turned out to be just the LCD flat panel monitor being automatically reset or re-calibrated. Sorry, I can't remember what the solution was but you might try a different monitor if you have one available.

Check your AC cord and be sure that it is plugged in properly at each end. Also you don't want a lot of stuff plugged in on one circuit.
It sounds like your machine is shutting down due to intermittent power loss or low voltage.

With xp can restore to an early date start>programs>accessories>sytem restore.
You can chose the date. Remember anything you have installed on the computer from that date forward will be lost
