OT: road grader ball/socket ?

I am looking to do some home-brewed engineering on my offroad vehicle and was looking towards a road grader ball/socket for articulation. Does anyone know what the real name of this component is? It looks like a steel ball that is caught between two bolt-together plates, which allows a lot of movement in a lot of directions. If you do know what I am trying to describe, where's a good source for one of these?

Agree with Dutch, don"t know how big this project is, but a Heim joint would work the same and you can get them pretty big.

Or steal the end out of an 3 pt top link.

If all that isn"t big enough, then I figure you better call CAT, Komatsu, Deere, etc.

At work my new JD 750 dozier with a 6 way blade has a hefty one on the blade, if you need a fairly big one.

You can get them at a Komatsu dealer.They are used on the Komatsu 530 graders (Same as the Galion850,850C)also on most of the older Galion graders

Ball and socket off a three point or a hydraulic cylinder? Where are you using it on the grader and what does it attach to? Most bearing supply houses have rod end ball and sockets in many sizes.

I am quite unsure of the original purpose of the swivel style ball joint, I don't have a road grader. I will attempt to post what I had poorly described.

They are availabe through Caterpiller. Try the 120G aplication for the circle drawbar side shift cylinder. The one on the circle drawbar can be broken off and I have welded on a new one. As for the wrap arounds on the ball maybe use two halves and weld up whatever it is you need.
