I know off topic but after reading reviews by sellers I would appreciate your input on your experience. Got new computer set up and need new all in one (fax not important. I previously used Epson stylus 820 (was only a printer). It did good job but sucked ink faster than I could buy. Do you have recommendation of inkjet all in one that is reasonable in ink use a good unit, thanks in advance

We had an Epson CX6600 and it lasted for a year and a half.$300+ It was always having trouble. Never could print straight no matter how many times I did tests. POS and will never buy Epson again. Did without a printer for a while and finally bought a new all-in-one. Canon MP160. Lasted a month or two. Got a new MP210 as a replacement and so far so good but we've only had it for about a month and a half. Ink isn't bad either. Even better if you but the refill kit.I don't mind doing the 15 minutes work to refill it for the money it saves.I was told you can't do that with the Epson we have as it will only let you use the cartridge once.

I do most of my printing on an HP4000. The laser cartridges are over $100.00 but you get over 4000 pages for that money. Actually, I bought the unit used for $220 with the JetPrint card for the network. That was a year ago and I'm still on the cartridge that came with it. I have printed 6 reams already.

For color, I use an Epson C80 that I bought used for $5.00. New cartridges from ebay and it works better than new.

Buy a decent used workhorse and you won't be sorry.

I would have to put a word in on Canon machines. I have one and absolutely love it. It does duplexing and everything. The inks for mine run about 14 for big black and 13 for color. The black is one of the super size things and while I don't print constantly, I usually get somewhere around 400-500 pages from a cartridge which is darn good considering it is inkjet.

Forgot to mention to set it to draft mode since 99% of the time that is more than sufficient. I print all my stuff in draft and find that the only time I need higher resolution is when I am printing pictures or have large areas of color (like a banner from a webpage). However, everything is still readable so I don't waste my ink by putting the printing to standard.

Have an HP C3100 Series. printer, copier, scanner. Its a good unit. Those ink cartriges are expensive because of the gold they use in them. That is why they always include a postage paid envelope to return them in.

All injets suck ink. They're OK for occasional use, or if you absolutely have to have color. If you use it a lot, and can get by without color, get a low end laser printer and a separate scanner. The laser printers are a LOT cheaper to run.

I like my Epson CX7000F. All in one. Flat bed scanner is so simple to operate. Ink cartridges are small but arn't they all. If you don't print too much, its not too bad. I don't use the built in FAX, cause I am on DSL. It does a great job on pictures.

I like the Epson printers. Epson uses a different setup than everyone else: the Epson print head is separate from the ink cartridge, so the Epson cartridges are significantly cheaper than the competition. The old printers went through a lot of ink because they used a single cartridge for all colors. The new Epsons use six or more cartridges so you don't waste ink when a cartridge runs dry.

I'm using an Epson Stylus Photo R340 right now, which is a great printer but not an all-in-one. My wife wanted an all-in-one so she went out and bought a cheap HP C3150. It is a horrible printer that goes through ink cartridges like you can't believe.

I'd sure check out the Epson all-in-ones.

We bought a printer scanner combo by Brother. The model number is DCP-120C and it has slots for downloading pictures from your memory card. We have have an Epson 3100 too. Both have been good printers. The Epson doesn't have a scanner. We bought the Brother from Sam's Club. Hal

We have a HP combo printer, copier and scanner that's now about 4 years old. It's always done what it's supposed to and hasn't been too hard on ink.

One tip some people aren't aware of. You can adjust the settings on a printer for quality versus speed. I use my printer a lot printing inspection forms where quality isn't an issue so I set the printer on "Fast Draft". It prints a lot faster and doesn't use as much ink.

HEY MARC

How about an HP, there are modelS that have 6 cartridges, 1 black and 5 color. I have one with a touch screen, Don't need a computer to print eather. I think they are coming down in price.The one I have is hp photosmart d7360 with touch screen. Iit seams to work very good for me.Cartridges are $10 ea.

My last choice(s) was an epson because it was cheap and common and does a good job.

I started buying ink off ebay. I get maybe 14 cartridges of colrs and black for a little over $20.

Had no problems with that.

And when time came to outfit the new puter on the other end of the room, I chose to find an epson all in one that used the same ink for like $49

So currently we copy or print without the heavy threat of another $50 ink purchase anytime at will.


But..... The last time I looked on ebay the supplier I had been using was no longer listed and things look like they are changing a bit. It may be as epson tries to discourage CHOICE. I don't know, there is still plenty listed.

I had a Canon in the past and everytime I updated the operating system it wouldn't. And with that the printhead dried up and quit squirting on a regular basis.

The epson(s) has yet to fail.

I printed out a 4X6 photo print the other day to see how it looked, and it looked like it came from kodak but it sure took it's time spraying a ton of ink on it to get it that way.

They all use lots of very expensive ink. That's how the manufactures make their money.

We have a fairly cheap Samsung laser printer, higher quality and cheaper than ink as long as you only want black & white.
