This works on my Macintosh laptop also. (Hold down control key and hit + key)

If you don't have a wheel-mouse, you can use the control key with the "+" and "_" to make the text larger or smaller, respectively. Also, under the "View" pull-down menu (View -> text size) there are mouse picks for "text larger" and "text smaller".

This works with both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Exploder, all versions.
