It's not hard to believe that garden variety thieves would steal something valuable that was relatively easy to get. Why would you suspect PETA members, though, other than the fact that you don't like them? Wouldn't they not only have to subscribe to a philosophy that you find offensive, but then be total hypocrites about it, too, to do something that would clearly endanger the safety of your dogs? To believe that just because you don't like someone, or because you disagree with them, they are by definition capable of every vice, sin, crime, and folly is not evidence of the high quality thinking that you normally demonstrate. Of course, you did say that you just needed to vent, and the standards for venting are somewhat relaxed, so----never mind.

They have no morals but self-worship. A goal is worth any ends to them.

I didn't know much about animal rights groups or folks. Heard a lot of negative about them back in the late '70s, early '80s, but since I farm I kinda care about animals, so thought they should be given their due, they only want a better life for critters, if there are a few odd people, the goal should be worth something.....

I joined a few animal rights discussion forums on Fidonet (I had to dial a long distance number with my 2400 baud modem -this was before the internet) to do so. Follow some Newsgroups to this day.

I attended a seminar or 2, with national speakers (Howard Lyman for one) at the neighboring college. I went to 3 meetings of a local vegitarian club that was trying to form. I still have 'Diet for a New America' by John Robbins, read most of that. It is one of the foundations, oft quoted, by animal rights folks.

I studied up on Peta & Alf & others. I've seen the dead animals from the releases these folks do.

I have quite a few issues of Vegitarian Times, and some other Animal Rights magazines. I can tell you the difference between Vegan & Vegitarian & Fruitian.

I've done a little homework on it, Stan. And at first I was thinking these are just mis-guided but good-hearted people.

Well, Stan, such a group of mis-guided, soul-less, self-centered people I do not know. They are an abomination. They are terrorists. They are liars. They are theives.

There is no good thing to say about animal rights folk.

I really, really have done my homework on this one, Stan.

Animal welfare groups are really cool, good people. They are careful to keep a big distance from animal rights people. Animal welfare groups look to improve the lives of animals. They care about animals, as well as people, the world, and you & me.

Animal rights people are miserable, selfish, uncaring louts. They have no care other than their own self, and do nothing for animals at all. Me me me, attention for me, is all they give a dang about. Animals are not important to them - they kill them all the time.

I'm still restraining myself, Stan. I probably can't tell you how I really feel in a public forum.

But, I think the past 27 or so years, I _have_ done my research and put time into developing my opinion on this. My comments are not from a flipant 15 minute observation.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. :) I will understand if we agree to disagree, but I hope you understand I really, really have put effort into gaining my opinion of Animal Rights scum.

We don't even have to agree to disagree---I'm always willing to be persuaded by good thinking and good research. I take exception to statements that have the sound of knee-jerk responses or unthought out opinions---particularly when they promote hatred, polarization, or violence. Honestly, how many people expressing strong, negative opinions on this issue do you think have done even a tenth of the research or thinking that you have?

PETA lost my support when I discovered that they were engaging in the very activities you specify. Like you, I shifted my support to local animal help groups because their efforts are immediately useful, and their methods are commendable. I'm appalled and discouraged that because of their extremism and hypocrisy, PETA is now a major force in turning people away from concern for the reasonable treatment of other living creatures. They're not, however, the first or only organization that has started out with what may have been a worthy objective at one time, and eventually gone badly astray.
