I have some Ker-o-sun heaters that I like to warm my shop work area with. Five gallons in a non reusable can at our farm store works out to over $7 per gallon! Local gas stations that used to have it in bulk at closed up. What is it where you live? Really gripes me cause Kero was always 1/2 to 3/4 of the price of gas.

Most general stores sell it here.3.30 to 3.60 a gallon.Oil dealers deliver it here, 100 gal minimum.Find a supply ,put a 50 gallon drum into your truck and off load it into another drum.

As previously stated, Jet A-1. Quality product and priced reasonable. Even the 100LL gasoline is a better value than the 91,92,93 or 94 octane at the pumps. If you need octane in something without a cat converter or O2 sensor. Just blend 87 octane with 100LL to get the detonation resistance required.

I buy mine at a gas station in nearby Rhode Island for $3.59 a gallon.

If it ever gets to $4.00 I'll probably just use the heater for emergencies.

Some farm fuel dealers even quit it because not selling enough in volume to mess with it. Government done this to us again as military stuff all went to one fuel or diesel but is actually just #1 Kerosene jet A fuel so there went more demand for it and oil companies wanting their cut so more gouging again.

I bought some about 4 weeks ago and paid $3.00. Went back 2 weeks later and it was $3.30. I think a lot of stores around here stopped selling it. I noticed the prepacked cans at Lowes. They really rake you over the coals. I visited a guy the other day that I used to work with. He runs a tire shop/oil change place out in the country. He is using the waste oil to heat his shop from an outside heater. Pipes it in to his shop. Said he had enough waste oil now for 2 years.

I paid $3.79 / gallon 2 weeks ago in NE Ohio..Propane is another sore subject...There is no reason propane is high ,other than the fact that "They Can Raise The Price" because petroleum went up to $100.00 a barrel..Where I buy my acetylene and oxygen , the counter guy says there's no shortage of propane..Just then the roachcoach guy came in to ask how much for propane..Counter guy looked up and asked, " How much you got?"....

Got an airport close? You can burn Jet A or A1 in them.

You"can" burn about anything in em,HOWEVER most wick type heaters call for K1... PERIOD.Jet fuels, diesel fuels and such can contain additives and other chemical agents that will foul the air and also are not as cleanly filtered.Allowable crud and particles in lesser fuels WILL also plug up the capillary action of the wick in a radiant(Kerosun type)heaters, causing poor performance, smoke, odor and nasty pollutants in your breathing air.Not to mention $20-50 replacement cost of wick once contaminated. As to finding K1,most states require dealers to be licensed.Put your elected officials to work tracking down dealers in your area.K1 is often used as an industrial solvent/cleaning agent so a fuel dealer may have ready access, even though he does not advertise retail K1,check around.
