Is this a good machine. Was used by the local trade school. Have always wanted one of these big AC/DC units but could never find one in single phase, were always three phase. Please advise if you have any knowledge of this machine. Welds perfectly and looks excellent. Also, what is a fair price on this machine.

Just purchased a TR-300 myself. I saw Buffalo Welding Supply has manuals for it but they want 50 dollars apiece for them, I am not ready to spend that. Look them up on the web.

Not exactly sure this is the one I used but have used a 300 ac/dc Hobart before. Decent machine, no real gripes about it. Should suffice for common work even leaning toward the heavy work side too. Main concern would be that it works, you said it does so I see no problem with buying it. As for price, that's something you have to decide on. What's it worth to you? Me, personally, I would not give more than say $100 for it because it's not worth any more to me than that. When it comes to your needs, you may have the choice of spending say $850 on this one or $1800 for a new one, which could make it worth more to you. If you're looking for fair market price, check some of the used equipment sales sites on the web to get an idea of what these machines are going for in the commercial market place and go from there.
