OT: Macromedia Flash Player

I've finally decided I'd like to watch some of the videos on Yahoo! news. When I click on the item, I'm told I don't have Macromedia Flash Player and need to download it. So I click on the "download' button and it should take 2-3 minutes. There's supposed to be a video when the download is complete. The only thing that happens is the two little computers in the right bottom tray blink on and off for a while and soon the word "Done" appears in the left side of the tray. I've tried twice with the same non-results. Windows XP, 384 MB ram. Any help appreciated.

Running windows xp on 384megs of memory will make you a slowpoke for sure. I was told that window xp needs 512megs of memory for itself. I don't know what kind of memory you have, but memory is not very expensive an you need it bad!
Xp has a functiion that lets you restore the system to a early date. it comes handy when a program does not install properly. This feature is at programs/accessories/systems tools all the way to the bottom. The dates that are available
will be shown and you can go back by following the prompts. You would also look at the new istallation and unistall them with the proper program, then you can try it again.
You should also check the system for errors and then defrag the system. Goood look....

1. Look on your destop for a new icon. It may have downloaded as an installable program, and clicking that icon will start the installation process.

2. It may have self installed. Look in Start/Programs and see if you have Macromedia listed now. Or, try downloading a video and see if it plays.

No new icons, nothing in Start/Programs for Flash Player. When I try to view a clip, I'm told I need to install Flash Player, or Windows Media Player or Apple Quick Time. Take your choice. So I tried Flash Player. In the Start/Programs there are a couple of listings for Windows Media Player but it doesn't come up when trying to view a clip either. Lately I'm getting a dialog box saying it can't find Yahoo! mail. I click "OK", the dialog box disappears and then I get a full screen that that says I'm not connected to the internet, so I hit the back button and go back to Yahoo! mail. This started before any Flash Player problems.
