A small 90 degree 2 stage. Has the right side up and upside down "W" (layed over each other) logo everywhere.. is that a Westinghouse thing? Haven't torn into it yet, but looks like poppet valves and centrifugal unloaders. Don't know if it's all OEM, especially the intercooler. Appreciate any input.

It's a Leroi, before Dresser bought them I think. I run a slighty newer model with a different unloader with a 5 HP at 750 rpm. Great compresser. Just change the oil and decardon the valves once a year.

BTW, in the first picture, you will want to remove the plug from the end of the intercooler where it goes into the 2nd stage head and put a 60psi safety valve in there. If it blows, you have 2nd stage valves gone bad. At the very least, take a pressure reading while it runs from there, it should be well below final discharge pressure (~ 40psi I would guess). If it's zero, you have 1st stage valve troubles.

It looks like an old Westinghouse,3YC, or 5YC, or a very early Leroi-Dresser. I think the sylized "W" represents "WABCO", which is an acronym for Westinghouse Air Brake Company. It should be pressure lubed from a plunger pump on the centre of the crankshaft if it is a Westinghouse. It might also be a Wayne pump.

Thank you, Roger in reply to XRogerX, 11-28-2007 15:58:18
Just eyeballing the thing, it looks like a 3 hp pump. Second stage cylinder is 2 inches max on the inside. Just not big enough to be a 5 horse. So 3YC would be my first guess. Anyway to get specs or at least a parts list on this model? Thanks again.

It's blue. I think it could be a Webster. XRogerX will probably be along shortly and tell you exactly what it is. He is the compressor expert. Dave

From this angle, it looks more like a V-2, than a 2 stage.

It's a 2-stage job. But you gave me an idea. The red tag riveted to the case plate is from a service co. There just might be some info hidden under it.
