I need to replace the light in my cheapo sand blast cabinet. The bulb and ballast are shot
(dismantled). I'd like to hear recommendations for replacement, preferably halogen or something brighter than the old fluorescent bulb.

TPTools says they have tried everything in a blast cabinet and they go with the outdoor flood light to get brightness in a rather dusty environment, they say a fluorescent simply doesn't supply enough light.

Depending on space....I've got two 100 watt floodlights in mine, like the ones you'd use for yardlights, with swivels.Wiring is in boxes and conduit on top/outside of cabinet.Though snug, lamps can be swiveled/rotated.

A good question, I also have problems. My next attempt is going to be a what we call in our area is a hay mow light. It is a standardn bulb with a glass fruit jar over it. My intention is to cover the top so it does not effect my eyes. Halogens get to hot for my liking, and the florecent work ok if you do not over extend the capacity of the objects you blast. I also got rid of the glass mounting devices, and purchased the older than dirt storm window snap over center hardware. In the construction business, I get lots of used glass. I tried plexa glass, but seems the dust collects on it pretty fast. So I also will be interested in the replys.
