Keeping cats off vehicles

This has probably been discussed before, but I did not have much success searching the archives. I am considering the purchase of a newer vehicle, and I would appreciate suggestions of humane ways to keep rather adventurous felines off my vehicles. Thanks for your help.

Use something sticky like honey and mix in some Cayanne (red) pepper . Then put a very light coat on the part of the car where the cats like to climb. They will lick the goo off and then they will think it is a Mexican restaurant that they will not go back to.

I am going to be the minority here but I like a cat better than any dog thing. I will shoot a dog before ever shooting or hurting a cat. I just wish we could leagally own cats bigger than saint bernards.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and thanks for the responses. I like the mousetrap idea. These are family pets so no forceful means of removal can be used per the management.

I had a cat that did that one time. For some strange reason he died of lead poisoning. LOL

we used a fence charger.One time and they not only never go back on the car they normally get close to car lay their ears down and run like hell.

I use a Havahart trap, then release the cats in a gated, ritzy neighborhood so they can live with rich people that treat animals better than they do people.

I have trained cats to stay off counter tops by placing paper or thin cardboard down with tape strips on them with the sticky side up. After a couple of entcounters with the tape, they keep off.

Memory's not the greatest, but I "think" I remember reading here that cornstarch sprinkled on the car would keep cats off....

if the car is parked in the garage, put some victor wood snap mouse traps on the car, cover with a sheet of newspaper. when the cat jumps on the car and steps on the trap, it snaps and scares the sh%%t of the cat. a couple of times setting the traps off, the cat wont go up there anymore. works good to keep em off countertops and tables too.
