My 91 Ford F250, w/351 CI and E4OD trans returns a 512 trouble code. "Keep alive memory test failure".
The EEC does have vehicle power going to its keep alive power input.
Does this mean the computer is at fault, or is there something else that will cause this code?
Thanks for any suggestions.

It started with low idle, I scanned w/AUTOXRAY (about $375.00) scanner, it indicated code 328, "EGR valve position closed, valve voltage below expected".
It has returned the code 512, ever since I purchased the truck in 2003.
I performed all sort of checks and determined the idle air bypass solenoid shorted (low resistance), I replaced the bypass solenoid and it idles ok now.
In reading books about the computer, I learn that if the keep alive memory fails, the computer cannot retain "adaptive" controls that it "learns" and starts over each time the truck is operated.
Thanks for any suggestion

Are you having a specific problem with the vehicle?

Are you using a "high-dollar scanner"... the reaon I ask is that sometimes cheapie generic scanners will return all sorts of phantom codes that are meaningless.
