Always somthing. Came up from finishing taping the sheetrock in my new shop (one thing that really bores me but has to get done). Walked in and the wife says there's no heat in the dryer. There's a thermal cutoff in series with the heater coil that shows open. This a common problem? Can I jumper it to test saftly?

Thanks guys. Charlie

Charlie,
I just had the same promblem with my wife....but I had just came home from picking corn not doing sheet rock...."no heat in the dryer" , she said..... ..( no supper either), I did a quick internet search and found the problem, the next day I went to my appliance man, he sells used appliances and gives me the talk straight and helps me fix my own appliances, sold me a $21 thermal fuse and thermostat kit, I installed it and my wife is not complaining anymore, the unit is a whirlpool but alot of them cross over, hope this helps

A Sears saleman once told me that Whirlpool makes the Kenmore brand for them.

I jumpered the thermal cutoff and have heat. Probably couldn't have opened because I found 10 pounds of jewelery, bobby pins and other 17 year old daughter stuff in the vent line.

Just goes to show, if you gots womens in the house, clean the vent and have the septic pumped at least yearly.

THe thermal cut off opened because of an over heat condition.Replace the cutoff.Dryers can start fires.Jumping saftey devices will get you.
