Snowbear snowplow or homebuilt??

I have been thinking of getting a snowbear snowplow for the front of my dodge dakota. I don't need any advice on what to do with the truck. I like it and thats what matters. What I could use some help with is, do any of you have any experience with snowbear plows? do you like them? Why? If you don't like them, tell me about that too! I have thought of building my own plow, but I would probably have more time involved than I would to just put in some overtime or sell some calves and just buy the snowbear. What do you all think??

P.S. this plow would be used to plow my driveway and my grandmother's drive and thats it. No commercial work.

Snowbear plows are a great light duty plow. Made right hear in Guelph Ontario.

Go to www.plowsite.com . This is a site for ice and snow management professionals. They have a number of forums which will tell you more than you need to know about snowplowing. There is a forum for home users, and I think I have seen Snowbear discussed there. You can read through the forums without registering, but must register if you want to post.

I have a 99 Dakota as well. If I ever have to get a plow for it I am thinking of getting one of the ones that mounts into a 2" front receiver. It looks to me like they work pretty slick.

i have had a snowbear plow on a sidekick since
1999 , my driveway is 2200 ft long and we average 160 inches of snow per season . i have had hardly any trouble . the feet wear out quick and i burned the electric lift out. this year i turned the blade edge over for the first time and i have a gravel drive . i would recommend them fully.

I have a Snowbear plow. Had it on my Jeep Cherokee. Blade is rather light duty. It uses an electric winch to raise the blade. Have to manually angle the blade. Connector to get juice to the winch is a constant source of trouble. I don't use anymore. Now plow with tractor loader.

I live in northern Wisconsin. Pretty far from anywhere, but depending on where you are we may be able to work something out, if shipping wouldn't be too brutal.

Friend has a 7' Snowbear Predator(plexiglass moldboard)quick attach,I believe.Though not hvy commercial grade it seems completely adequate in all ways for private use.
Snowplows(in my opinion)are one of them"Better off bought,than built" items.
