Need some tin based babbitt

Does anyone have a source for some tin based (High speed) babbitt, I priced some from Mcmaster-Carr for About 85 bucks plus shipping for about 4-1/2 lb ingot. Ouch. Is that about the going rate?

You might try Odessa or other oil field repair places too or local machine shops and bearing supplies.

Good babitt is expensive. And McMaster sells a pretty big ingot.

Also try Baum Hydraulics at Omaha. www.baumhydraulics.com. They have several babbitts in their printed catalog.

It might be worth checking nearby bearing supply houses too.
