I have a light by the shop with a photocell to turn it off when it gets daylight. Light stays on all the time. What is wrong? I guess it's time for a new one.

I had some lights like that which I purchased at Lowe's. I kept taking them back and getting new ones after three I said heck with it and just got my money back. Picked one up at Wally World and it has been working now for 3 years. If I remember right it was about half the cost of the one from Lowe's.

Some times if you tap on the photo cell the light will go out, but it will most likely stick again when it turns on again.

Yup, when they don't work, replace 'em.. 'Bout $10 at most any hardware store.

Most photocell issues I have seen were from being hit by lighting or electrical surges. Where I live we have a standard three prong twist to lock photocell as used on street lamps, used to control the runway lights on a grass runway. Sometimes after a bad lighting storm with close hits, the lights stay on all the time, till we replace the photocell.

yep, need a new one. I replaced mine and my light goes off now. Plastic junk gets warped up inside it thanks to the sun.
