A rusty gas can is a frustrating thing.

I think I saw them in a Cablas catalog...
They sure thought alot of them!
You just gotta hate the new Self venting filler nozels in California. What a PIA!!! Can't find a gas can with a vent on it anymore.

I have a small OSHA gas can. Real hard to get gas in or out of the can. California emissions is a laugh. On the job I had two Ranger trucks come to me from CA. Never did find a Ford garage that could repair one in the mid west. Metal cans show up a yard sales is my source.

Yes.. go to a industrial supply store that sells to contractors... OSHA still requires commercial use of 'red' gas cans to be metal and have the flash proof screening.. etc..

www.sportsmanguide.com in Minneapolis has the military style "gerry" cans for about $15.00. I have 3 and they work great.

Eagle. Has a nice funnel as well. Darn expensive though, as in about $45.

If you want old military type cans, they can be had and are still made.

Hey,don't feel bad not being able to find a metal can.I went to the local NAPA warehouse last week trying to replace some lost caps off plastic gas containers. The counter-person said they're no longer available. He mumbled something about California emission gas cans???? I just stood there and looked dumb..... ..

the whole country is going to california emissions on gas cans and tanks.
Tanks on weed eaters, chainsaws, lawnmowers etc and the gas cans.
The EPA found that gas vapors were going thru the plastic the tanks were made out of. Now there is a new standard on the plastic used. Most all companies have switched and the rest will be soon.
Unfortunately, I can tell you this from first hand knowledge. (I had to read the paperwork from the EPA)

TSC catalog only showed safety cans may be all you can find in metal now too? Try military surplus stores or industrial supplies.

I go to swap meets and rummage sales to find good older gas cans. These newer plastic gas containers where you can't use it without getting gas on your hands are not for me.

The California gas "cans" are the worst thing around. They spill more gas than ever was lost thru venting and pouring. The only place to find caps or nozzles for the old ones are flea markets and garage sales. The price is going up there, too. We didn't have these problems when there were 120 million people. Now we have over 300 million. What will it be like when there are 500 million? We'll have to bring back the Soylent Green program!

I saw some military style cans a little while ago. They had a Briggs & Stratton tag on them and were quite pricey. Around $50 if I remember right. They might have been even more than that. Dave
