Refreshing! Taking action not just talking about it. Not sure if I would have the "stones" to do it.

Saw an interview the other night with this guy on TV. What the people that are against what he did seem to forget is, I"ve been told, a Federal law, not just a custom, that the American flag always fly as the highest flag. What I want to see is the guy flying it below the Mexican flag arrested and charged for violating the law. This guy was simply practicing his right as an American citizen to enforce a law the government decided not to. That"s the spirit this country was founded on, government of the people, by the people, for the people, that"s why "We the people" are the ones that are supposed to have the rights, not the government.

He should have torched the Mexican flag. Now That Would Have Been Great.

I was impressed and gratified by what the guy did, too. But everybody should keep in mind that when you go outside the rules because the rules don't seem to work anymore, you're saying it's all right to do that. Then, when someone who feels the opposite of the way you do does something that makes your blood boil, you can't logically say he doesn't have the right. The rules aren't working for him either, and he also sees taking the law into his own hands as the only way to deal with the situation.

When the system doesn't seem to be working, we're probably better off in the long run putting our energies into making it work again rather than forming militias to protect ourselves from the chaos. But I think the chaos is coming anyway.

Sid,

How did you come up with that from what I said? By the way, I earned the right to speak my mind in this country. Did you? Using family influence to get you into the National Guard, or getting a scholarship to study in another country don't count.

All the best, Stan

Stan I got the sme impression from what you wrote as Sid did. And YES I have the right to say whats on my mind.[U.S.M.C. 70 to 74 Viet Nam]
I have 5 daughters one Army, one Marine and a Son in law Marine, one daughter National Guard who just finished a year in Iraq. And yes I agree with what he did in cutting the flag down and leaving the mex flag on the ground, you will notice that the mexicans did not have a thing to say to the cameras.

The way things are screwed up I'm betting they use that tape as evidence against him and lock him up. The screwed up courts will dream up some kinda charges, carrying a knife, inducing panic, leaving that other flag laying on the ground ? They will dream up something.

They should give him a medal !

Jim Brossard for President. The man had the guts to do the Right Thing. I am a veteran too and some of the things I see just really get to me. If the Guy thinks that Mexico is so great that their flag should be flown above the US flag, here in the US, then why doesn't he go back to Mexico?
