I'm trying to help my nephew out getting a new or used soft top. He's got a 94 CJ. Whats the difference between cj, yj, tj. As you can tell I'm not a Jeep guy in the least so a little help would be appreciated.

Tj (98 & up) has the more desirable four-link and coil spring suspension. (and marks the return to round headlights.)

XJ is a grand cherokee, FYI. I always thought the YJ was for Cherokee, but I guess i'm wrong?

XJ is not a grand cherokee, it is the cherokee sport. the grand cherokee is the ZJ and the comanchee is the MJ. just clearing that up have a goodone. Steve

If it is a 94 model it would be a YJ. CJ's were built until 86. YJ's (square headlights)were built from 87 to 95 and sold through 96. TJ's (back to round headlights) were built from 97 through I think 05.

CJ = Civilian Jeep YJ = Yuppie Jeep TJ = Towed "behind motorhome" Jeep

Just kiddin' ya. But there were no CJ's built in 94. The CJ's ended when they quit building the CJ-7. I drive a 55 Willys CJ-5 almost every day.
