While we are on the subject of presure tanks and pumps. My air volume control was leaking water so I got a new one and installed it. Now I have air in my lines all the time, did I get a bad control or is some thing else wrong.

Hi jimmy,

Your cut in pressure is set too low. As the tank runs out of water air is sucked into the water stream. Set your cut on at 18psi and see if that don't help.

T_Bone I think it cuts in at about 30 and out at 60, I am suspecting I have a hole in the pipe all but one length is 60 years plus old. I may just have to pull it and put all new pipe only 60 ft.

If you change your tank to a tank with a blatter you would not need an air volume control. And if I remember right you don"t need as large a tank. Costs more now but much fewer problems along the way.

Perhaps you have installed it upside down or not with the top up.

Or the screw seat setting (is so equipped) is screwed down too tight or something happened when you installed it.

Take it back out and blow through it while you lift and drop the float. If it don't blow, take it back.

Didn"t see anything there that looked like it. It is just a float with a air release valve on it and the float is in side presure tank it screws in the side of the tank about 2/3 the way to the top. The tank is about 40inches tall and 18 across "round".
