I just purchased a 2007 GMC 1/2 ton pick up. It has coil springs on the front, which my 03 did not have. It also has drum braks on the back instead of disc as my 03 did. A guy up the road pulls in my yard the other day with an identical truck, except the color was different and it was a Chevrolet. His truck does NOT have springs in the front and DOES have discs on the back. Anyone know why the 2 trucks are different ? both are 2007 1/2 ton General Motors. thanks

I'm not familiar with the 2007's, but in past years the 4X4's had torsion bars, the 2WD's springs. My 2005 GMC 4x4 has front disk, rear drum brakes--I don't know if they changed to disk in the rear or not -- I see no advantage in that as the rear brakes last a LONG time, driven normally.

Look at the "build dates" on the tag on the driver's doors. It was probably a "running change" in the 2007 model year.
