Abybody have any info good or bad on a Jet 1750 8' metal lathe? It is 3phase so I will meed to get a phase converter. Guy wants $2000 for it. Looks in good shape but old and dont know if it is worth it. Tried looking up value of it on google but could not come up with anything. Amy help or info would be appreciated

You can build a phase converter with a 3 phase motor and a little single phase to start it spinning. No capacitors needed. Made mine out of all extra parts- no cost. www.homemetalshopclub.com

Eight footer??, man thats a big machine..Look it over real good for looseness in the apron wheel and spindle bearings..See if the carriage is loose on the ways..I didn't think Jet has been imported into this country that many years..I can get a 12" X 60" Southbend engine lathe for about $1500.00..Look for a surplus supply near you..In Cleveland we have 2 [McKeans and HGR]..

I bought a new Jet 1440 for $2000 a year ago. You might want to check around unless you need that large a machine it seems a bit high. A LOT depends on its condition and what accessorys and tools come with it.
