With the kids back in school and for my own use I am searching more. Why do I have so much trouble with google etc. When you search it should show, shouldn't it? I asked a US gov't question for my daughter, very specific, and it showed a zillion entries for everything but what I asked. I tried google images. Was very specific, I thought, wanted to see a "cub cadet model 1863". Instead I got photos of cadets, cubs, panda cubs, ....Why? I was trying to find a buyer of starter and alternator cores. My search yielded everything but that, why? What am I doing wrong? I'm sick of hearing how you can find anything on the net. Where?

Blingo.com gives you advanced searches that will let you use a specific phrase, all the words, etc.

I use the search engine "dogpile". It searches other search engines including Google and Yahoo. Works good for me. Others have good tips on wording.

In addition to the above, use a + mark

+"cub cadet" +1863

The + mark makes it search for pages with those words.

You can also use the - mark.

Such as
+"building blocks" -"amino acids" -legos -proteins

Otherwise you mite get lots of lego block pages

or pages filled with organic chemistry gobblety gook.

Hi redtom,

As Neo Politan indicated by suggesting that you use quotation marks, it's all in the wording you use with the subject you're looking for. Google itself probably provides good information about how to use it, but if you keep at it you'll soon start to get a feeling for what will and what won't work. I've found that it's more productive to put time into rewording my request rather than slog through an endless list of responses that aren't what I wanted, hoping the right stuff is there somewhere.

"cub cadet" 1863


the quotes make it look for the words cub cadet as one and the 1863 also
