The original subject was "CUMMINS TOOL SALE????".

Cummins sucks for returns, they treat you like you just stabbed them or something, then I swear they send people out to rip you off afterwards. Some of their tools are borderline fraudulently advertised and usually pretty crappy. I got a breaker bar there one time and it broke the first time I used it, and I took it right back, and they said Too bad,,,,, ,,Well why even call it a breaker bar then? It was a piece of junk unworthy of the title "breaker bar".. if they know its inferior they'll sell it anyway.. Their wrenches are weak and kill your hand

Don't see the problem - it broke, so it was well named as a 'breaker bar'?????

;)

Cummins, Homier, Harbor Frieght - all it is cheap stuff. Underpowered, weak, or poor specs.

I buy a few $100 of it each year, but it is for running the farm, stuff that gets used once or 2x in my lifetime or bounces along in the tractor or lost in the field or so I have one in each tractor.

None of this stuff will run a machine shop or last for daily use.

Good value if you shop smart, don't bother reading the fine print.

I worked with a guy who bought a set of hammers at a Cummins sale once. They had balsa wood handles. We tried to drive a stuck pin out with the biggest one, and the head cracked.

Another guy had a set of prybars from a Cummins sale once. The only one that didnt outright break bent to almost a 90* angle.

There are good deals on tools (at Sears on a Sunday sale and at garage sales/ flea markets), but if it looks to good to be true, then it is...

I stopped at one of their sales once. It was all junk and a waste of my time. I never went back to another.

It is great to see people on this site who support American made products. I have seen so many people on this site who buy from Harbor freight where they have imported junk. What I have seen is these foreign companies will build junk products and these smart Americans will buy the junk to save a nickel. The foreign companies will then take the profits and build a better product and sell it for below what an American made product sells for. Kind of like what Toyota is doing to the U.S. auto industry. The foreign companies take away market share and puts the U.S. companies out of business. Only now Ford's quality is better than Toyota. Buy American and we will all be working.

With all the negative posts everybody puts on the various bulletin boards every week, WHY do people keep going to these sales and buying this junk?
That stuff is for Yuppie homesteaders and people who think tools are for eye candy. If you buy quality tools and they break with reasonable use, you have grounds the whine (but theres usually a good warranty backing them up and usually a neighbor that owns the store where you bought it).
It's like Dad used to say, 'If you bought it in ignorance, you won't again. If you do again well tough s**t you fool!)'

Or, in the frequently misunderestimated words of G.W. Bush, "There's an old saying in Tennessee I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says, fool me once, shame on shame on you. Fool me you can't get fooled again." Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

Well it is only going to get worse. They are using cheap labor and working conditions and dumping the stuff on us at below cost prices until our business are forced to close down. Then they have the whole market. I saw the same thing happen back in the seventies when the Japanese took over our electronics industry and started on our auto industry. They sold at below cost by overworking their people, using subsidies to sell below cost and pay offs. And yes some of our people were guilty of being part of that to fill their pockets. They sold us out. Wait until Japan and China have most of our money then it could get interesting. Money talks. Another thing that is bad is all of the auto factories that Japan has over here. A lot of the land, utilities, and training was provided to them just to get the jobs, but the noose is just tightening up .

I went and looked at their stuff once, it was junk and I left. I tend to go to flea markets, auction and swap meets for my tools. Swap meets usually have great tools from estates and guys just cleaning out their stuff. I bought a whole bucket of snap-on wrenches and sockets for $10 this summer. Had to be $1,000 worth of stuff new.

It is called a breaker bar , and it broke . Alot of people buy their junk . Always remember , you get what you pay for . Want quality tools , pay more for them .Some people say good things about their stuff but most of it is made in China at sweat labor wages . The USA will soon be like that after all the Chinese & Mexicans get here & take over production . I'm glad all it hurt was your pride . God bless, Ken

Chinese and Mexicans coming in and taking over production? During the Chrysler strike, a high level professor said "Manufacturing may not even be feasable in this Country anymore". God bless America. Answer with your votes in the upcoming elections.
