How do you stop oxidation FOR GOOD after a battery has leaked on steel??? I have now two pieces that old batteries have leaked on that will NOT stop producing white ox and I have put baking soda, then treated with NO OX Grease (from a phone office) and no stopping. What do you guys use to treat steel that has been exposed to battery acid?

Railhead. Not a direct answer but have you tried the treated pads under your battery clamps? I�ve been using them for a few years and they seem to work for me.

I have the same problem as you on the battery box and the steel hold down clamps. I soaked everything in a baking soda solution and then wire brushed and smeared axle grease all the corroded parts. I�ll let you know how long it lasts as I only did it 4 weeks ago.

Phosphoric acid, LimeAway, CLR, Osphos and Naval Jelly. Will they protect against corrosion or only clean up what�s turning white?

you have to knock off the white stuff with a screwdriver. NO GRINDING. Then you would put the acid on it, which converts the rust into a oxide. Put around 3 coats on. You would let this dry for 24 hours, then PAINT it. You don't leave the by-product exposed, or it will just rust again.

You can also put undercoating on the surface where the battery lies after you use the acid.
