Hi
I too have an old Brunner compressor I got from an old farmer friend. Model # A714, type 672ETFT s/n C76E106. I believe it's a 7.5hp compressor (not sure what that means in compressor talk). I'm looking to put a proper motor (5hp single phase?) on it and a pressure switch and new plumbing as well. Do you what size motor I need and proper rpm the fly wheel should turn at and what kick out pressure would be? thanks Ron

I don't have the specs for this machine. If it is a single stage (all cylinders pump from atmosphere to full discharge pressure/each cylinder has an air filter) I'd keep the pressure below 150psi, maybe 130 max. If it is a multi stage, it should be good up to 200 psi, but I would not recommend going that high, as air volume delivery drops off at higher pressures, and you really need to know that your tank is in good condition. I'd keep the rpm's down to about 750. You really need an ammeter to decide where the best mix of pressure and speed is to be found. Max amp draw on the motor = the limit of what your motor can deliver. You can gear it low and go for pressure, or gear it high and go for air delivery (both within reason). I'd say, for a 5hp motor, 700 rpm and 130 psi might be a reasonable compromise, if the motor can pull it. If you are not at max amp draw at that pressure, you can either speed it up a little, or raise the pressure a little. Me, I'd go for max air delivery, as there is very little need for really high pressure for most stuff.
