Need help bleeding floor jack

I've had a cheap flood jack for about 20 years that has never gave any trouble. Other day I went to use it and it wouldn't go all the way up, I thought low fluid. It was and I put some in. When I let it down it blew the rubber stopper off but fluid was full. I went to try it a jack it up and it won't go up all the way, then let it down and fluid is full. Long story, only way I can make it go up all the way is to raise it as far as it will go, which is half way or less, the add fluid and then I can jack it all the way up. When I let it down it naturally blows the stopper out. I thought I might have air caught in there some where keeping me from getting enough fluid in when it is down. Anyway any ideas what goes here?

Raise and lower until the air works out. Lower it slowly to avoid squirting oil out. Poke the stopper with a shallow syringe needle and leave it. It will spit until the air is out.

Let it down all the way and with the stopper off let it sit over night or take a piece of wire and pock into the fill hole. Then fill it again. A jack has to be all the way down when you fill it or you will over fill it and then have fun like your haveing

I have used a wire and poked around hoping to bust an air pocket if there was one, didn't work. I haven't let it sat overnight with stopper out. I will try that.

It might have air in the piston / bore chamber. Pump it all the way up and then stand it on end with the saddle end down and release it in that position to get the air out of the piston / bore chamber. Watch your fingers don't get pinched.

Opposite the handle end. The "saddle" is the cup shaped thing that contacts the underside of the vehicle.
