Silverado bugshield

I didn't know where to put this question, but I
thought one of you guys might handle it. I just
bought a new Silverado, and am trying to decide
whether to go for a bug deflector. I thought the
one on my older F150 did a good job, but that had
a flat hood. The Chevy's hood slopes off a lot
more. Would a bug shield still work as well?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I've had mixed results with bug deflectors. The one on my F-150 works nice, but the one on my Ranger caused the radio antenna to vibrate like crazy and caused lots of road noise. I took it off and haven't missed it. If I had a choice (both my trucks came with them, as I bought them used) I would not have one, but then we don't have the bug population here in western WA that we had in NoDak where I grew up.

A bug shield will help some but comes with a price. The redirected airflow over your windshield will cause the rubber wheatherstripping on the sides of your windshield to flap at highway speeds. Securing the weatherstrip edges with double sided tape usually corrects the condition. I'm a mechanic at a GM dealership and see it all the time. The fix isn't covered under your warranty because GM never
intended you to put an aftermarket bug shield on your vehicle. If you do use a bug sheild Lund Industries makes a really nice unit for your truck.

Don't have one on mine. Just something else to replace when you hit a deer or bear.
