I am looking for a product that will help our company save money due to wasted oxygen/natural gas consumption. Our company uses this gas to run many small torches. Though the torches are on at all hours they are only used a small percentage of the time. The employees are instructed to turn off the torches when not in use, however this does not happen. I am looking for a devise that will shut the gas off when not in use and will also ignite the torch with little or no effort. I imagine something with a trigger or lever attached to a valve.

It's just as Mark said. Look up welding supplies in your yellow pages. The big name suppliers carry this product. It maintains a pilot light and when you hang the torch on the hook it shuts off the gasses without disturbing valve settings for production work. They're very common in metalworking factories.

I finally found a link for you. This on is for Smith torch equipment and is called a "Gas Saver". I think Western and a few other companies also have similar type devices but this is what you are looking for.

As for quick easy lighting of the torch, I have seen several different items from semi-closed pilot lights to the piezo (spelling) electric discharge lighters (the snap type lighters used on some gas grills and such). These would likely be the best and safest choice for a very low cost per item. In a permanent holder, it's handy and won't get lost as easily as hand held lighters.

There is company that makes a valve attched to a handle in the shape of hook that you hang the torch on. It turns off both fuel and O2 gas lines which allows you to pick the torch off the handle and light it to where the flame was set prior.

I want to say the brand name is Western but I am not positive on that. I will do some looking a bit later and see if I can find something more specific for you.
