My dependable homelite has allway cranked and run well until this weekend, I must
have cranked it 50 times, it runs for about 30
seconds and dies, if im fast enough to press the choke it will run alittle but die & have to take the choke on/off/on/off to keep it running. I changed gas & cleaned the pickup filter in the
fuel tank, so any ideas?

check for rotted or broken fuel lines,,,very common . If lines ok , clean carb . check exhaust ports .

Quite likely the fuel-filter is plugged in the carburetor. It a small metal screen and pretty easy to clean out. You have to take cover off the carb to get to it - it's on the side that has the fuel-pump diaphram - NOT the side with the inlet needle.

When i see a small engine with that problem, I think stuck float or flaot needle.. and fuel starvation.

probably needs carb cleaned and rebuilt. Especially if you are using alcohol gas in it, it will dry out the diaphrams and will not pump gas, thus it will not run

If this is a 330 or 360 it is a split intake boot below carb and intakeblock. Very common.
