Late-season liner installation question

I'd had it since June, but the empty pool needed no work, so I waited until after the Plowing Match.

Today was the day, and the liner went in pretty smoothly. Internet purchase, eh? The only problem, and the purpose of this post, was that two of the 4" radius corners popped out when I yanked on the liner to straighten a couple of creases.

The liner locks into a groove in the aluminum sidewalls, but the cast-aluminum corner pieces have their own groove, and it seems hard to get the bead to lock into them.

Any tricks? I plan to tap in a rubber liner lock when the stores open on Monday.

Rod,
I have an in ground pool and had to change liners last year. My old liner had pulled out of two corners, so when I had a new liner put in, I asked if they could do something to prevent that and they said they would put in what they called a channel lock on the corners where most of the tension is. Call you local pool place as they should have them.

Yep, liner lock. It's a rubber wedge on a roll and you can drive it in with a hammer.

My problem was in getting the corners into the slots originally. Solved it Sunday morning with hot water and a pair of desert spoons. Then I put a couple of pieces of liner lock on to seal the deal while the pool fills. No way am I going to leave the vacuum running for four days while the pool fills, though.

Has anybody tried trimming the bead backing to give it space to fit into the corners?

On mine, I lift the liner to where the bead can fall into the channel at about 45 deg and the liner bead will slip in and as the weight on the liner comes down, it will lock in.
