I"ve got a (at least) 20 year old Yazoo big wheel mower Model 40-5-22-B. I love this old thing and have used it all of it"s life. I"m running out of spare parts and can"t locate a supplier. Yazoo went under and the new stuff is made by someone else.

Its self propelled and the drive mech is chain drive.. small pully driving a larger pulley. The smaller one wore out and I used my last spare.

Does anyone know where I can find old mowers or some dealer that supplies Yazoo deck parts ???
I hate to see this old dog die from one bad part.

thanks
John

BTW I have pictures if anyone is interested

Re: yazoo lawn mower - PARTS SOURCE FOUND in reply to john niolon, 09-29-2007 09:33:13
Well,

I found an old post on somebodies forum... that mentioned a possible source for parts

Wagoner Power Equipment in Englewood, Oh.
937-836-9611

Called them up and they had a pretty good variety of parts for my 40-s22-b mower.. I was giddy.

Just wanted to say thanks and post the name for any others looking for old yazoo parts.

later
john

You can take your sprocket and chain to a company like MSC or Motion Industries or your local bearing dealer and ask them to find a sprocket that is similar to yours. Buy new chain at the same time.

John. it's not like a machinist type dude has to make an entire new pulley. he just needs have one similar and bore it out or make a sleeve. it would help if he doesn't have to take blades off or other stuff. so locate a small machine shop or probably many here could do it.

You may want to try over on the Garden Tractor Forum. There are some people that own and work at small engine and lawn and garden equipment dealerships/repair shops. They most likely would be the ones to help you find spare parts. Another idea would be to google Yazoo Mowers. May be able to find someone with a stock of replacement parts. Also if I remember correctly the Yazoo used the Clinton engine (also gone with the times like the Yazoo mowers) and there are places that stock parts for Clinton engines. It's possible that one of them also has some replacement parts or old Yazoo mowers around.

Just my two cents for whatever it's worth. Good luck with the mower, I also have some older equipment that I am either looking for parts or will be looking for parts. LOL, it seems that it doesn't have to be that old to be obsolete. Have my father's Poulan chainsaw that was bought in the early eighties. I'm attempting to get it back in operating condition. The few parts that I've had to get for it (so far) have been special order items. And the Tecumseh engine parts are hard to find also if it's more than a few years old.

Drop me a line or email me some time. I'd like to know how you make out with this. My uncle used them all the time to clean up around the farm and shop. Wish I had access to that junk pile right now. The farm he managed was sold and auctioned off in 1984.

Jim
