I bought a Hobart 210 mig welder- and i love it

Everything on this Hobart welder is made in the USA and the gun is from Canada. I called a Hobart technician, and he said all it is is an inexpensive version of the Miller welder. Compared with a buddy's 210 Miller side by side. No differences between the Miller and Hobart WHATSOEVER. No and's, if's, or but's about it.

I am satisfied with Northern's 3 day shipping on this welder through Yellow freight.

Heard of Forney welders, or heard of Forney welders with dial adjustment? Yes/no respectively. All the Forney stick welders I've ever seen have been huge, heavy, virtually indestructible red machines with taps for setting the amperage. You plugged your electrode lead into the outlet that had the amperage you wanted printed beside it. No moving parts, in other words (I don't know if they even had fans.)

There's still a Forney company but they aren't in the welder manufacturing business any more. Whatever happened to them happened long before most Americans stopped caring about sturdy and reliable as qualities they looked for in a product, so it wasn't that.

Sure some of these new (hobrat) welders may be assembled in USA but if the imported parts were left out they wouldn't weld nor even bolt together. We are fading.

Sounds great! I expect you bought an Ironman because you mentioned not thinking you needed the 250, and the Ironman series comes in both 210 and 250. I ask because when I went to the Northern Tool site to see what your welder looked like, there was also a Hobart Handler 210 MIG there. The configuration of the two machines suggests that the Ironman is the more serious welder, even if the difference in price didn't already say that.

My only Hobart welder is a Stickmate AC/DC machine which I have been completely satisfied with. Among its other good qualities, it must be relatively efficient because it generally won't trip the 30 amp breaker on the outlet I can use so I can weld in the driveway. Several Lincoln 225 amp AC buzz boxes I have owned all trip that breaker unless I am very, very careful.

I can lay smooth welds with my 75%/25% ar/co2 sheilding. I've just done sheet metal work with minimal warpage.

I would have gotten the 250, but I really don't think I'll need that duty cycle time.
