Need some of you guys that remember back when the old Hobart G-3010 series was new. What was the color of the Chrysler 225 industrial slant 6 engine? I power washed the engine in my Hobart and expected to find the traditional Chrysler red that seemed to be the standard of the 1960s. Instead I found GOLD paint, not a lot of it mind you, but what was there appeared to be factory applied. I'm not doing a factory correct restoration, but I like to have my equipment in nice condition and if I'm painting something, close to original colors is always a plus.
Thanks

Used to work for Etheridge Machine Shop in Sandersville and the one we used had faded gold and black lettering with a 6 cylinder Chrysler industrial engine and was rated at 300 amps and produced D.C. current only at the 110 volt outlets, Death wish for any tool not marked AC/DC. Great old welder when you finally got it cranked and going.

Not sure but some Hobarts were gold and blue and some of the older ones were all gold I think. Dave

Have seen a metallic light brown on their old wire welders and more of gold like you said on others. Might set if off from the sea of battleship gray welders out there.

Actually the outside of the welder and it's trailer are going to be done up in cobalt blue and hammered silver. I guess it's of little relevance what color the engine is. Red would be somewhat tacky against blue and silver with the sides open. Maybe Oldsmobile engine gold would work?
Thanks

I don't know of specific models, or the exact "shade" used, but at some point the old Hobarts were a sort of "gold" color. A local guy is still using one, and that's the color it is. His Dad bought it new.
