Ryobi angle grinders

Last week in Home Depot I saw a 2-pack of Ryobi 4" (maybe 4-1/2") angle grinders for $40. Made in China, of course. Does the Ryobi brand name, such as it is, provide any assurance of higher quality than the equivalent Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, Cummins, etc. tool? Specific experience, please. I already have my own attitudes.

I have got over the"Made in China" Shock a good while ago and have some of the Ryobi Tools,Gas Powered String Trimmer, one 6.0 Volt Cordless Drill, Three 7.2 volt Cordless Drills,One 4" Angle Grinder and a Three Cornered Sander. The Three Cornered Sander is Junk! The String Trimmer I have used and abused for maybe 10 years and it still goes. The Cordless Drills all get used hard and no complaints. One battery ,7.2, went bad, but another was easy to aquire. Overall the tools are very functional and give good service but most of all they represent what I bought them for"Cheap Price". If the buying Public objected to "Cheap Prices" and bought higher priced,[but not necessarilly better quality Products] "I" think Chinese made products would go away and I have not a clue as to what would happen to the World Economy or the U.S. Economy either for that matter. Would our "Quality" of life improve? I surely don't know ,so I for one roll with the flow and what ever I can afford is what I buy. Am I so much different than the average Consumer? I think not.

I also saw the ad..Don't be afraid of Ryobi tools. I have some that worked construction for 10 yrs. and still going. Ryobi lawnmower that is used 40+ times a year, was 100$ new, is still going 4 years later. Keep your receipt. If it breaks get another.List of Ryobi tools I own:
18v 1/2 hammer drill
18v 3/8 drill
planner
18v saw
orbit sander
buffer
angle grinder

I've got almost every cordless (18 volt) tool, their table saw, planer, router table, and more. I've saved close to a grand over buying name brand stuff. I work this stuff hard. Gave up on crapman tools, went through portercable too. These are what I stick with. I've never had any problems other than one battery pack wouldn't hold a charge. I've heard that their grinders and chop saws don't hold up. Poor shielding to the motor. Other than that, every brand will have a bad unit come through now and again. Mike third party image

S-I-L has one and it works OK. I bought a Ryobi orbital polisher and it didn't last 5 minutes before the armature wires shorted and caused a complete burnout and failure. I brought it back to H.D. and they refunded the purchase price. Pay your money and take your chances I guess.
