how many bushels of ear corn?

I know ear corn, there is 72# to a bushel. But how do you figure how many bushels of ear corn a wagon will hold. Wagon that measure 72" wide by 120" lenght and 26" deep. Is there a formalu for that without weighing it?

just fill the wagon and take it to the elevator and weigh the thing then you will know problem solved .

Wrong answers so far. Since a bushel of ear corn is 72 pounds so it will equal a bushel of shelled corn, but is not measured by volume. Takes up more room than a bushel of volume. One of those things that was common in the old days.

1 bushel= 1.2444 cu. ft.
6x10x2.166666 =130 cu. ft.
130/1.2444=104 bushels

Rodger is on the right track. Ear corn takes twice the cubic ft. that shelled corn does. The way we used to do it, cubic ft. times .8 for shelled corn, times .4 for ear corn.

AIRalph, you are right on. Shelled 1 1/4 cu. ft., and on the cob 2 1/2 cu. ft. per bushel.

If you knew how many bushels, or fractions thereof, were in a cubic foot or cubic yard you should be able to figure it by dividing into the cubic volume of the wagon. There must be a table on cubic volume per bushel around somewhere.
