I have an almost new Hobart welder with a 20 HP Kholer engine on it. I converted it to run on LP gas. I have used it about 10 hours all together. I started it up yeterday, welded with it about 10 minutes and it started blowing oil out the crank case breather tube. Not just a little. Any suggestions

I checked the compression, both cylinders had 160 lbs. It started on one cylinder each time I checked the compression even tho the LP valve was sut off. I checked the oil to make sure that it was not too low and it was too full. The crank case is too full is the reason that it is blowing oil I suspect. Oil smells like gasoline. When I converted it to LP, I put a valve in the vacium line to the fuel pump as well as a valve in the gas line. Both are shut off but apparently gasoline is getting into the engine some how. I am going to change the oil and disconnect the gas line and plug it as well as the vacium line to the fuel pump. Thanks for your replies.

Make sure you are using a low ash oil. Otherwise you will be doing a valve job also. The ash builds up as coke on the top side of the valves. Chevron Delo 400 is a good oil for propane engines. I learned the hard way.

Is it an overhead valve engine?? If so, could be a headgasket blowed by pushrod galley???

Let's assume you have lost compression on 1 cylinder. Remove the head from the cylinder having low or no compression. Possibly, the LP carburetion was adjusted too lean and burned a hole in a piston.

Running with too much advance on the timing can also take out pistons. Timing is more critical on LP than gasoline.
