A while back I wrote about my Radial Arm Saw not running right and eventually figured out that it was because the motor was wired for 230v not 110v.

Since then it has run like a charm, until about two weeks ago.

Now it just blows the breaker as soon as a flip the switch. I've eliminated all the wiring from the plug to where the wire enters the motor (this includes the switch) so it's something internal.

I've looked for broken wires or anything else out of place but I can't find anything.

The only real oddity I found is I get continuity between the white and the black lead, which doesn't seem right (short?)?

There a mess of wires in there and I really don't know where to start.

This is a cap start motor if that helps, it also has a reset switch and and a relay.

K

There has to be a direct short somewhere. Hold one of the leads of your tester to the motor frame and the other lead to the black or white wires to determine if it is shorted to the housing.

Used to repair electric motors, but it's been more than 40 years since I worked on them.
