My brother tuned up my grandma's 1991 Pontiac Sunbird with 30,000 miles. It has the 4 cylinder engine with throttle body injection. With the car running my brother sprayed throttle body cleaner down it and it immediately sped to fast idle, real fast. Now it wants to run real fast when first started, then will come down fairly low, then back up fast again. It runs real good, only it is fast now. Any ideas? Thanks Bob

Thanks Shannon. Would spraying the TB cleaner in there cause the air/idle control to stick open like that? I didn't see any vacuum lines off or bad so will check the IAC next. Thanks for youur input. Bob

You have a vacuum leak somewhere.Pro'ly a broken, soft,or disconnected hose.

Might be worth a try to disconnect the battery for several minutes. That might cancel the computer program. Then when you reconnect it and start the engine, let it idle for several minutes while the computer reprograms itself. Other posibility is to have someone check the codes. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for response. I disconnected the battery but still the same. I have a generic code scanner but it showed no codes. I'll recheck the vacuum lines again to see if I overlooked something. Thanks Bob
