Andy,

To deal with the engine, you'll need to get a B&S manual. They have a manual for all out-of-production engines (up to the mid 1980s). You can find it at many web sites that sell small engine parts - will cost about $50 plus shipping.

Thank you all so much for all your help we have FINALLY got the old girl working. We are still however trying to identify it so will follow up on all your suggestions. We obtained the rotovator via our local Freecycle web site, for those who dont know it is a site for resecuing items from taking up valuable landfill space, you get the items on offer for free, so your help in restoring it is very much appreciated and I am so grateful because now I dont have to help my husband Andy manually dig over our allotment !!!!! Cheers to you all Sue and Andy

Try www.donaldantiquerototillers.com They are a good place to start, particularly with identity.

The first thing I would try is file or lightly grind the points to get the film off.

Hi thanks for that, I have no idea about engines at all, so I need to know where the points are in relation to the magneto, thats why I was trying to discover what make/model the rotovator is so I could get some diagrams!! I am just learning my way round the engine by trial and error so any help, advice and tips would be very welcome. Cheers Andy
