Fisher Plow Interchangability Question

Hi All,

I have a Fisher Plow Question. I have an old junk Chevy K2500 that has an "old style" conventional plow with the hydraulic pump driven off the crank pulley with a belt.

I want to swap this to my new-to-me '97 GMC K1500. It looks like the frame mount will work, but I don't know about the pump mount.

Does anyone know if this will work? I am willing to cobble up some pump mount pieces...

Thanks, Tim in Mass

You can make any of the work with some alterations. I didn't realize the motor-pump-drive is considered old-style. I much prefer it, myself. I've got four trucks with Fisher plows - and much prefer them to my two that have Western and Myers with electric pumps. I've swapped Fishers between Chevy trucks from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. They all needed some adapting - and - some older Fisher plow mounts are narrower gauge than the newer. Usually, the biggest hurdle is getting the hydraulic pump mounted. I've had to make the pump mounts for all of mine - but the aux. drive pulleys can be bought cheap for any engine. I will add though - that all of mine are diesels but one - and mounting parts for the diesels differ from the gas engines.

I would call a Fisher dealer. There are at least two in Lowell. I think you are near Worcester. There must few a few more down there. If you can't find someone who will talk to you, try another dealer.

You could also go to the Fisher site. Click on Technical Support > Kit Selection Guides > model year.
