Certainly found out a lot of good stuff about what is and is a not good idea in towing lately. While safety is obviously the # 1 priority, followed by saving the equiptment and libelity, not sure of the order of the last two.Wondering how other states treat the issue of licensing. Here in the Great Commonwealth of Va. the limit you are allowed to tow is determined by licsensed GVW weight of the towing vehicle.Minimum weight starts at 4000 lbs.Not sure what good that weight limit is,maybe a volkswagen pulling a bicycle?Prices for liscencing naturally go up as the lbs. increase, get somewhat pricey above 10000 lbs.The price of hauling can also increase when the friendly officer places the metal boxes in front of all the wheels and says "drive forward slowly please".Just wondering, how is this handled in other places.

Visit some of the RV sites like: rv.net.com They have a link to state towing requirments. Indiana has your same graduated method of licensing and taxing-er- user fee. Always wondered- if you're taxed for road use - why don't bicyclists/mopeds pay for it too.
