Ignition Switch

I need an 3 position ignition Switch. Off-on -start. The switch needs a set cf closed contacts in the off positipn to ground the magneto. Would a garden tractor switch work or any suggestions welcome.

Some of the ones other mentioned at auto supplies are the cheapie ones you want to avoid. Be sure it's the right kind of switch though because if you put voltage into the mag accidently you are going to fry it! For HD switches like that check with any Cole Hersee dealer. Most HD truck parts places sell Cole Hersee and they have a online catalog too. www.colehersee.com You can get keyed or lever type switches like that and yes even HD lawn mower switches. Lots of welders use the lever type switches.

I have used several ignition switches for DEERE garden tractors for applications on larger tractors with mags.

The DEERE part number is AM102543, @ about $16.00.

You MAY find something cheaper at NAPA, though.

Your concept and idea is sound cuz those garden tractors ground out n kill a small engine ignition in OFF same as you need for a kill switch equipped magneto buttttt ttttt ttttt ttttt ttttt ttttt

Im unsure of the amps your starter solenoid might draw (assuming thats your set up) and those lawn mower switches are cheapies and arent rated any heavier then absolute necessary HOWEVER the typical garden variety car or tractor solenoid dont draw all that much current so theres a chance it will work NO WARRANTY LOL

Most auto stores carry those universal On/Off/Start generic general purpose ignition switches amd I bet they are higher current rated then a lawn mower switch so for no more then they cost Id opt for one of those over a lawn type myself ifffff fffff they have a ground/kill contact terminal option???? cuz those are designed to supply power to a coil n never heard of a magneto, so if not were back to the lawn switch I reckon..... ..... Head to Auto Zone or Advance Auto or Pep Boys or NAPA

He can make a short lead to ground and turn that position into a kill mode.CENTAUR

Go to your NAPA store, they have universal switches like that.
