I know a large percentage of you are farmers or had been in the past. I am having a heck of a time with flies in the calf nursery. The few I have tried seem to repel them for the first 2 times I use them then quit working all together. What can I use to drop them in their tracks?

Snip works real good for the time I've used it. Has most of the flys gone in a few days. Copy and Paste

I wish someone would explain the concept of fly control to the operators of the dairy farms here in the Erath/Comanche county of Texas. It seems that even though they are heavily subsidized with federal money, they are unwilling to do anything about eliminating the flies/odor/runoff. The funny thing is that the PRIVATELY funded beef cattle feedlots, in the TX panhandle/ Western OK., Western Kansas, and Nebraska, etc., can and do comply.
One can always tell when a dairy farmer has been in a store/restaurant ahead of you because of the flies he leaves behind.

THanks guys but I have been trying to use fly bait with little success. The golden marlin I have is blue now not yellow like it used to be when it worked good. Fly traps seem to work the best but what I really am looking for is a spray or fogger type spray that really works to drop the flies in their tracks. We used to have some on the dairy farm about 15 years ago that did the job nicely. Not sure, has that stuff has been banned now?

I think early riser should move back to the city if he wants to be such an onry old man.

Used to use Golden Maldrin in the hog barns years ago. Yes that stuff really works and is easy to use. Didn't no you could still get it.

Fly bait is the way we go here in the horse barn. We had flies out the wazoo, bought some bait and sprinkled it around and put a bit on some bucket lids where the dogs and cats couldnt get to it and after a few days the fly population was severly hurt. We use to use it on the dairy farm and it works wonders. Most feed stores or co op's have it. I love to watch the flies eat it, they do a funny little dance just a few seconds after starting to eat on it and its over, almost instantly.
