Is there a brand on the market that won"t harm the family dog or cat after the rodent is dead or dying? I don"t want any more cats so thats not an option. They are in my barn, but so is the cat & dog. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

We used wooden boxes with 2 baffles that the rats can get into.Top was hinged with a latch.You can make a home made poison with a 50/50 mix of powdered sugar and plaster of paris.Put this mix in tuna or catfood tins inside the bait boxes.Put a padlock on the boxes to keep kids out.Check the boxes often.

We had a dog that ate one of those blue blocks of rat poison.. He went crazy, turned mean, he would try to bite us. After a few weeks, we solved that problem...

Most rat and mouse poisons are blood thinners, and a cat or dog would have to eat quite a quantity of dead vermin to get a dose that would harm them.

I cought my small beagal mix with a half eaten rat poison bar that I threw under the house. It never hurt her but I may have been lucky. They opened a seafood joint up down the street and we rats. The poision would make them drunk and lathargic befor they would die and the dogs had a field day. It never hurt them. Vitimine K is the antidote for dogs and your vet keeps it on hand so if you suspect they are sick from it go get the shot.
