#40 chain..Length = 2X the distance between the center of both sprockets + 1/2 the circumference of the drive and wheel sprockets.

It is probably a number 40. Run a tape around everything and add a couple of inches you will have to break it again after you put it on the bike (to get the exact length). Buy a half link and masterlink too.

Geez,I ain't seen a"Pooch"for prolly 35yrs but I remember them a bit.According to link below Sears sold Austrian Steyr-Daimler-Puch mopeds and motorbikes from about 52-67. At that time Honda was just getting started and dealers were sparse so choices outside the big city were pretty much a baby Harley,a Cushman or Vespa IF you could find a dealer or ordering an Allstate from Sears, which in our lil town came in by railroad, wood crated and pickup, uncrating and setup was up to the buyer as were most minor maintenance and repairs. You'll need to determine which Puch model your Sears corresponds to as there is very little info left out there under Sears name, but seems to be quite a number of Puch fans online.Length of chain can be approximated by simply fitting a length of tape or such around the sprockets, but unless the sprockets are marked, the link size is gonna be tougher, prolly being metric as bike is european...Best of luck!

thanks for the quick response and info...my neighborhood junk man was going to the scrap yard and gonna junk it and asked if I wanted it..I've got alot of projects going, but what the heck, I took her...It started righted up and runs good....someone had broken the shift case (which a buddy did a great job welding), that is probably why the chains gone...I've got a few miles behind me, but in my years, never have I seen one like it..Its pretty similiar to a red one for sale on ebay like a 1964 sears allstate..I came up with the same site you have listed, but couldn't come up with any specs..Thanks again...deanop
